Better Than Reese's Peanut Butter Bars

I was sitting on the couch with Charlie watching Modern Family when I got a bit restless. I decided to get up and make a batch of these tasty treats! They are super simple and quick and require no baking at all. I discovered this recipe on another blog during one of the many hours I have spent hunting for recipes online. The recipe calls for semi sweet chocolate but we have made them with milk chocolate and enjoyed them as well!

Better Than Reese's Peanut Butter Bars
:
6 talespoons butter, melted
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 creamy peanut butter
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vegetable oil

Combine butter, graham cracker crumbs, powdered sugar and peanut butter in a medium bowl and mix until combined. When well combined, spread into a well greased 8 x 8 pan. I used foil this time to make lifting the bars out of the pan easy. (If you are using foil you still need to spray with pam as this treat can be sticky!) Refrigerate while you prepare the topping.
Melt chocolate chips and oil together in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds or so, till smooth. Spread over top of peanut butter layer. I like to add a drizzle of milk chocolate to add a slight sweetness and a contrast in color.

Once they have chilled you can easily lift out the entire piece and place on the counter. This makes it much easier to cut into squares.

Refrigerate at least an hour before cutting. Makes 16 squares.
