French Toast Sticks

Having toddlers means you often have picky eaters in the house. Mine is no exception! However my kids love french toast and french toast sticks. These are easy to make and easy to eat. They are sweet so no syrup is required. They also can be frozen for a quick breakfast later. I use wheat bread because we only eat wheat but the recipe calls for white.

French Toast Sticks:
2 eggs
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
8-10 slices of white bread

butter

In a shallow dish lightly beat eggs. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Cut each slice of bread into 3 or four strips. In a preheated griddle or frying pan melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Dip each strip of bread in egg mixture and coat both sides. Gently shake off excess egg and place into pan. Cook until browned on both sides.
Serve with powdered sugar or syrup. We ate these plain and didn't feel the need to add anything to them.
